Smoothies on smoothies (Halloween edition!)

So like I mentioned previously, my office has moved and now I am forced to PLAN my meals in ADVANCE like a normal human. So with this move comes a walk to work that has increased from 3 minutes (literally) to 25 minutes. Should I be complaining? No, because at one point I was commuting 90 minutes each way to work, but I CAN’T HELP IT OKAY?  The point is, I am drinking a lot more smoothies. They are so easy, and I can drink them while I walk, or at my desk when I arrive. I also love them for a post-run meal because my stomach is usually all knotted up, and I have no appetite anyway. I decided to play around with some fall smoothie recipes and I am pretty happy with how they turned out, so I decided to share! It has been a while since I posted any kind of recipe, so why not! In the spirit of Halloween we might get spooky-scary too. Like I’m talking werewolf bar mitzvah.


Apple Beet Berry Smoothie

This bad boy is for recovery. I decided to enhance the flavour of the Vega Recovery Accelerator in apple-berry flavour, by using some fresh apples and raspberries too! This stuff is amazing and I now swear by it after every hard or long run. It makes a world of difference. No one asked me to say that. Go buy it STAT. Tropical flavour is also my jam. ANYWAY, back to my point… the recipe!

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 scoop Vega Recovery Accelerator in Apple-Berry flavour
  • 1/2 a small apple, peeled and chopped (I know the skin is what has all the fiber, but I am not into the little bits of peel in my smoothie!)
  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries or 1/2 cup fresh raspberries + a few ice cubes
  • 1 cooked beet. I know what you’re thinking, you’re like “Girl, I am not going through the agony of roasting and peeling beets to put one in a smoothie.” GIRL, I GOT YOU. INSERT COSTCO.
  • Blend and chug. And maybe Halloween-ify.

  3. This was incredible. So, I am totally going to start getting my beets from Costco and putting said beets in smoothie.

    If it wouldn’t be for smoothies, I would be late for work EVERYDAY instead of just most days. 😛

  4. Yum! I go through smoothie phases and usually drink many more when always on the go as they are a quick and easy way to get lot of nutrients on the go! Fall smoothies, almost anything apple, pumpkin, or chai. Adding in some fun ones with peppermint, chocolate, ginger (gingerbread), orange/citrus, beet, the list goes on and on. …
