Too much fun to comprehend

Whoaaa.

I had such a busy week last week trying to get everything done in preparation for a JAM PACKED weekend of food and wine. Rough life. My workouts for the week went down like this:

  • Monday: 6k run
  • Tuesday: Upper body lift (I had a lower body massage at the end of my work day so I couldn’t do a full body like usual, poor me).
  • Wednesday: 7k run
  • Thursday: AM: Lower body lift, PM: 5k run
  • Friday: 8k run (instead of the 14k planned). This run SUCKED and made it clear that 5 hours of sleep per night is NOT enough and my body will let me know ASAP. Shins hurt, calves hurt, it down poured, and I generally just felt like I was carrying 200 extra pounds. Leg day the day before may have had something to do with this, too…
  • Sat/Sun: OFF, due to ACTIVITY CENTRAL.

Friday night Josh and I had a reservation at a local restaurant (The Cambridge Mill) for a 5 course meal with wine pairings. YEAH. I had bid on this package at a silent auction a couple months ago, and we finally had the chance to go. LOOK AT THIS.

The first course is missing (a charcuterie board), because it was 90% devoured by the time I remembered to take a picture. Woops. Let’s just say we were super full and feeling great by the time we left.

Saturday morning I woke up nice and early to get ready for my friend Claire’s bachelorette. It was a full day affair. We started with kidnapping Claire (with water guns in hand and nylons on our heads), throwing her into a van (legit), and going to Niagara (two hours away) for wine tours all day! I can’t even explain how fun it was. You know when a baby or a puppy is so cute that you just cannot compute, and your brain feels like it’s gonna explode? It was like that, only the fun version. TOO MUCH FUN TO COMPREHEND. We ended off the night by destroying the dance floor and maybe some more bottles of wine…#woops.

Sunday afternoon, Josh and I packed up the doggies and headed to my parents’ place for Father’s Day. It was ALSO lots of fun, and I got to see my little niece for the first time in OVER A MONTH. Not cool. She is a crawling machine and wants to eat all the things (like her Aunt Dan).

It was the best weekend I can remember in ages. Trying to get back into the groove of real life today! I have no major plans this coming weekend, so at least I can spread my workouts out this week for some proper rest in between.  The rest seems to be key for my shins right now. I feel a little bit like a granny, totally fragile, and a little bit weak…but I’m working on it!

How was your weekend? Have you ever gone on a wine tour?

  1. Take me to this restaurant! That cake looks LEGIT.
I’ve never been on a wine tour… Considering wine makes me gag….I’d probably just end up staring at it.
SO happy you had fun. Hope you didn’t get kicked out of any restaurants bahaha.

  2. Wine wine wine!!! I love those shirts! I support any and all debauchery involving wine and girlfriends!
