Stop Being So Smelly. (a giveaway!)

Listen up.

We all know that person in the gym, the one who you’re sure has never washed their gym clothes. Ever. The one who 2 minutes into their warm up smells like they have already been working out for a week, doing two-a-days. WELL my friends, sometimes it’s not their fault! Well, it is. They shouldn’t have worn those clothes in the first place. But sometimes our gym clothes just hold onto that stank forΒ DEAR LIFE!Β  You wash them after every wear Β but they’re still interested in reminding you of that marathon you ran three months ago. This is particularly discouraging when you spend more money on your workout clothes than regular clothes (coughLululemoncough). Even with that anti-stink technology, sometimes even Lulu can’t defeat the residue of hard work! (That makes it sound less gross, right?)

Back in May, I participated in the Burlington Beach Relay Race where I picked up a few samples of a product called SportSuds, which I mentioned here. I had been looking for a performance wear specific detergent for a long time. I have one particular pair of Lulus (my fave) that seem to get smelly way too fast (gross) and I have been hoping to find a product to save them! I threw a load of my beloved Lululemon (including the smelly crops) into the washer with about a 1/2 tablespooon of the SportSuds. I washed them in cold water and hung them to dry. They obviously smelt just fine post-wash but the true test is after wearing them for a tough workout! So that I did. It was like night and day. They were totally back to normal! SportSuds is all I have used to wash all of my performance/wicking clothing ever since! (So I stole more than my fair share of samples from the beach race. Don’t judge.).

SportsSuds works by unclogging pores and removing bacteria that weighs down (and stinks up) your performance wear.

Some more fun facts about SportSuds:

  • Made in Canada!
  • Not tested on animals
  • Biodegradable and non-toxic: Contains no dyes, phosphates, UV brighteners, perfume or bleach.
  • Scent free
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Designed for use in cold water

The amazing people over at SportSuds have graciously provided me with some full size bags of SportSuds (so I can continue to not offend people at the gym) and they gave me enough to share!

not the easiest selfie I’ve ever taken…

Three lucky winners will receive a full size bag of SportSuds detergent!

I smell sometimes, but my boyfriend(college basketball) SMELLS AWFUL!!!!! His socks make my clothes stink and I have been looking for something to help!!

  2. I am smelly quite often, like 4 times a week when I ride my bike to and from work. There’s no shower at work. My coworkers have come to accept my lack of hygiene but SportsSuds might help.

  3. I sweat more than the average person, and even after washing my clothes. I have to use shout stain remover to wash out the arm pit area of clothing. It sucks. I would especially like to try SportSuds because I have not seen anything like that in the US.

  4. I smell! Wait… I do?!? Crap. Guess I need these Sport Suds! On a more serious note (like being smelly in public isn’t serious enough), I’d love to try these. After looking for a product like this and hearing (from you) how well they work, I need to give them a whirl! πŸ™‚ Fingers crossed!

  5. Whenever I’m working out I’m always SO PARANOID that I’m smelly.. I even refrain to talk to people haha.. I’ll just rush by people with a quick wave.. Its the worst when you wash your lulu tops a gazillion times and still can’t get the smell out!! I would LOVE to have sports suds help me with my confidence on my yoga mat haha. πŸ™‚

  6. hahahaha too funny, but we’ve all been there (well, those of us who sweat at the gym anyway!). I hear Jennifer on the paranoia – I usually go to a secluded spot where no one else is working out (to avoiding offending others…)…It is only then that I can feel confident that it really WAS the dude in the wrinkled gear on the treadmill next to me.

Would LOVE to be hooked up with some Sports Suds!

  7. I often “save” my good workout clothes (lulu’s and such), as I’m afraid to wash them too often! I just fear that regular detergent is too rough on them and will ruin the “anti-stink” technology. I’d love to try SportsSuds, so I can actually wear the workout clothes that I dropped entirely too much cash on πŸ™‚

On a side note, anyone else feel more “pumped up” for a workout when you’re wearing your “good” workout clothes? Perhaps it’s b/c I want to look good in those luon pants, but I’m just not as motivated in my old high school gym shorts, haha.

  8. I would REALLY like to defunk all my gym clothes and stop reeking of febreeze/butt. Kthanks.

  9. Haha it’s so funny that you wrote this post, because today at the gym i couldn’t get over how my shirt stunk but yet i JUST washed it!!??! I was so mad! I sweat like a crazy woman, so this hands down would be awesome to win! Thanks for the opportunity girl!

    Ps: Super cute photo!

  10. Danielle- I don’t think I’m that person at the gym you speak of (at least I hope!). My boyfriend on the other hand, may be. Working on a hot, humid tennis court for up to 8 hours, 6 days a week he easily goes through multiple sets of active clothing on a daily basis. Lately, it seems that washing his clothes makes the daily grim stick and they then smell awful even after multiple washings! I cringe when he goes to put on a seemingly clean shirt that smells like its been in the bottom of a dirty gym locker! SpotsSuds seems like the answer to our problem! I’d love to test this product out and I’m sure my boyfriend would be overjoyed to put on fresh smelling clothes once again! πŸ™‚

  11. Sometimes I think it’s not just me, but the kickboxing studio I go to that makes my clothes smell when I get home. We wipe down all the punching bags after, but there are men in the class and their sweat drips on the floor!! Definitely could use the product! I air dry most of my workout clothes to preserve the quality of the fabric!

  12. Guilty of spending more money on Lulu than regular clothes. Also guilty of wearing my workout clothes as regular clothes – ha! I have a couple t-shirts that will not stop reminding me of my previous workouts! Skipped the fb (don’t have) but sent a tweet!

    • So rude right? You can remember those workouts on your own!
Make sure you leave me another comment here mentioning the tweet for a second entry πŸ™‚ (My blog generates the winner based on comments here!)

  13. Kendra Jones says:

OMGoodness – I SO needed this after my Mud Run!!!!
My gym clothes tend to stink up after about two wears – and it’s my own fault b/c I wash them separately from other clothing…so I put it off – this stuff looks and sounds awesome!!

  14. TOO funny!!! This has got to be one of the best inventions EVER!!! I could absolutely use this because lets face it … sometimes, we smell πŸ™‚

  15. helen bedolla says:

Oh my do I need this. Do I stink? Hate to admit it but I do. With working out 6 days a week, I sweat like a pig. I sweat more than the usual girl c lothse look lik someone threw me in the pool. I have a bottle of febreeze in my gym bag & half way thru my workout I spray myself. At times I just take an extra pair of clothes to switch into, thengo back to my workout. You’d be helping a girl in need, not to mention the people @ the gym.

  16. I cannot get the smell out of my workout clothes, even after washing! I already feel gross when I put them on before working out.

  17. Oops right – reading instructions isn’t my strong suit when I’m excited πŸ™‚ Sent a tweet too! I really want to win these suds!

  18. Oooh….I get stinky! Well, hubby says I don’t, but I think he is just being nice πŸ™‚

  19. Oh my heavens! I most desperately need to be non-smelly-ish! I know I’ve had a crazy good workout when my deodorant seems to fail me, however, sometimes it’s just too much. Spraying myself with perfume in the car doesn’t help or “taste” good either! πŸ™‚

  20. I am smelly and sweaty and so are my workout clothes, even after washing them hundreds of times!!!
