Things That Made My Day

The things that made my day today:

1. My new $10 Joe Fresh workout shirt.

sorry for the stunned face (Laurel)

2. When I was running on the dreadmill for my short run today and was pleasantly surprised to find it wasn’t THAT dreadful. It randomly synced up with my heart rate watch!!  Is this treadmill from the future..?

3. This outrageously delicious Vega protein smoothie from Thrive Juice Bar. It tasted like a chocolate milkshake. With oreos in it.

4. This homemade granola I whipped up when I was craving cereal. Nom nom nom.

I mixed  these things up and baked them at 350ºF until they were golden and crispy.

  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 2 tbsp sugar-free maple syrup
  • 2 tsp xylitol
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Then I added 1/4 dried cranberries (from the Farmer’s Market and sweetened with apple juice rather than sugar) and ate with almond milk! In theory I should have let it cool down first, but I was too excited.

5. Lemon wagging her tail like crazy in her sleep. But not long enough for my to get a video, obviously.

Now I’m off to pack for the weekend! We are heading to Montreal for a wedding! Hopefully I can blog at some point.

What made your Thursday?

  1. is xylitol safe??? I saw it at the grocery store and I’m new to these healthier concepts so I am curious. I’ve heard mixed reviews about agave, so I’m always asking 🙂 right now I’m using Stevia, but I find it too sweet!

also love the new shirt….and can I please have your legs 😀

    • Danielle says:

Yes it’s safe! It’s a natural occurring sweetener, I find it much better than stevia. I find stevia too bitter. BUT, do note that xylitol is toxic to dogs so you might not want it in your house with Rex, I still use it but I am very very careful with it.

And never in my life have I encountered someone who wanted MY legs…LET”S TRADE IMMEDIATELY haha

  2. Your granola sounds delicious. I love adding some cinnamon to the mix :). What made my day was definitely my shipment from VitaCost arriving. I absolutely love receiving packages with food in it!

Awesome job w/ the treadmill, and have a great weekend in Montreal 🙂

  3. Love the workout top! And I want that smoothie!! I brought my dad some Vega to France and I want to use it but he’s so happy to have it I feel bad!

  4. I think you look great, including your legs! And your granola! And I LOVE xylitol, I don’t use it too too much but I really like the Ideal Brown it really does taste exactly like brown sugar and is FAB in overnight oatmeal! Have a great time at your wedding:)

    • Danielle says:

Aw thanks! I am extremely self conscious about them so that made me smile 🙂
I still have to try the Ideal Brown! Going to keep an eye out for it!
