Work It Outdoors!

With the enormous weekend recap I posted on Monday, I didn’t have the chance to tell you guys about the awesome track workout I did on Friday! The heat had finally broken and the weather was perfect, mid-twenties and sunny with minimal humidity. Since I am trying to keep the long distance running to a minimum, I decided to try this crazy track workout I had been dying to try, designed by Kyra aka. The Get in Shape Girl!

Now unfortunately, I don’t have (quick ) access to an actual track (plus it was during school hours..) so I headed to the local park that happens to have a paved 460m loop around a section of the park! I also didn’t have access to stairs so I modified Kyra’s workout as follows:

  • 2 lap (920m) warm-up
  • 1 lap sprint
  • 2:1 rest ratio (eg. if lap takes 90 seconds, rest for 3 minutes)
  • 1 lap sprint
  • 2:1 rest
  • 20 squats
  • 20 push ups
  • 20 alternating forward lunges
  • 20 high shoulder taps (aka. plank it out and tap your opposite shoulder, alternating)
  • 20 alternating lateral lunges
  • 10 side hip plank ranges per side
  • 20 tricep dips (on a park bench)
  • 3 minutes hill sprints

Complete entire circuit 3x in a row!

Post track workout sweat:

It was so fun and nice to be outside again! Last summer I did literally every one of my workouts outside– no gyms for me!  I really miss it and am going to try to get out there much more often this summer!

Definitely check out Kyra’s page for some awesome workouts! She actually has an awesome 12-week plan that I plan on checking out in the Fall after I finish Body Earned!

Lastly, check out Lemon’s new soccer ball toy…cause why not?

  1. Is it weird that I’ve never done track work? Except if you count PE in high school.. haha. Your dog is super cute. I love the name!

Hahah so not weird! But it’s really fun, you should definitely try it! Haha thanks, she’s pretty funny.

  2. That workout looks INTENSE to say the least! There is actually a track right by my house…and another one right by Dean’s so we have been taking advantage on days that the weather has been nice. I’ve got to try this one out!
