Happy Easter!

Hi guys!

My weekend was SUPER busy so I never had the chance to post.  Don’t fret, I will update you on all the excitement RIGHT THIS MOMENT. Friday I hammered out my 14km ‘long run’ first thing in the morning so that Josh and I could get going to his parent’s house. I wore my super cute cat blouse! (After the run….hah)

For dinner, we went with the whole fam over to a delicious local restaurant where I had this delightful meal:

Grilled Chicken with Brie & Sundried Tomatoes, Lemon Potatoes & a Veggie Kabob

I LOVE BRIE!  Just saying.

Somewhere in the mix, Josh’s sister and Mum took Lemon for a walk and she came back very proud with this little treat to show me:

Look at that face.

The next day we headed over to my parents’ house for Easter dinner #1!  Here is a little looksy at my plate!

Mashed Potatoes, Parsnips, Carrots, Green Beans, and Turkey! This is with about 1/3 of the veggies already mowed down. So. Good.

We then moved into dessert OVERLOAD…is there such thing as dessert overload?

The Clean Desserts! Chocolate Covered Katie's Fudge Babies: Chocolate Mint, Gingerbread and Thin Mint & Oxygen Magazine's Choc PB Protein Truffles

White Chocolate Raspberry Pecan Truffles made by my sister, HOLY SMOKES!

My sister Jess' birthday cake made by my Mum, Chocolate Peanut Butter DELIGHT

and last but OBVIOUSLY not least..my Mum’s ADORABLE COOKIES!

Mini-Egg Bird Nests (this is for you, Minh). HOW CUTE ARE THESE?

So as you can see, there was some serious sugar overdosing going on.  We always have a million desserts at holidays because it’s a reason to try all the recipes we’ve been eyeing! NOMS.

Oh and let’s not forget the Easter egg artwork.  Good job Alex & Joselyn!

So after dinner, we slipped into our food comas and then the next morning Josh and I headed back to his parents’ house for Easter dinner #2!  I totally forgot to take pictures of these activities but we had an awesome egg hunt (I came in last. In fact, one of my eggs is still hiding somewhere in the house hah). We ate equal amounts of food as we did the night previous, and then rolled to the car to drive back home!

I got up this morning and I still felt completely full.  I’m all for indulging for holidays but oh man, I wasn’t feeling too hot.  I chugged some water, took my vitamins and I waited a couple hours before eating. I guess I didn’t technically eat, for breakfast I made a protein smoothie to have on my way to the gym.  I did my back workout and then headed back home so I could do my run outside instead of on the treadmill!  I ate really lightly all day and am feeling so much better already.  My bloated tummy is slowly but surely returning to normal, hah.  Totally worth it!!

Overall, the weekend was lots of fun but went by SO quickly!

Do you indulge on the holidays or stick to your diet?

Do you have a favourite Easter tradition in your family?

Hope everyone had a great Easter and a great Monday!
