Weekend Activities!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! On Friday, after my audition I did LiveFit Day 74. It was arms and abs day so I was able to do it at home (wee!) followed by a 40 minute run. That night Josh and I just hung out at home, he has an actuarial exam coming up in April so he is in study mode!

Saturday morning Josh and I got up, ate breakfast and headed over to our new love, the local farmer’s market to pick up some produce for this week. We picked up 9 red bell peppers (3 for $1 this week!), a bunch of parsnips, a pineapple, cauliflower, goat cheese, 30 flax fed/free run eggs, low-sodum/nitrate-free turkey slices, and bacon (Josh!). We are still stocked up on chicken breasts from last week’s sale which is awesome. We only spent $25 at the market this week!

After we went to the market, Josh hit the books and I roasted some beets from last week’s trip. I whipped up an awesome roasted beet salad. Unfortunately we devoured it all before I could get a picture…hah woops. Here is the recipe anyway!


Roasted Beet Salad 

Serves 4 (or 2…)



10 small red beets, roasted and sliced

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

2 tsp dried oregano

1/4 cup green onions, chopped

1/4 cup toasted almonds, chopped (I wanted to use pecans but unfortunately was all out!)

1 oz goat cheese



1. Roast beets. (aka. wrap them in a tinfoil pocket and back at 400°F until soft and skin peels). Mine took about 75 minutes.

2.  Let beets cool, then peel and slice.

2.  Add all ingredients in a large bowl and devour.  Noms.


After lunch we decided to take a quick trip over to the mall so I could hunt for some jeans. That was entirely unsuccessful, but I did find these!



I have been searching for a pair of loafers like these for a long time, but didn’t want to spend too much. Guess how much these were? …$27, down from $90. Guess how many pairs were left? …1. Guess who’s size they were? …..MINE! WIN. This was fate, right? They’re a little Michael-Jackson-esque…especially with the sequins…BAH well!

After that great find we strolled over to Teaopia and I got a delightful Pina Colada Iced Tea, sweetened with honey.



THEN we went to Chapters and I found this!




It is an awesome book to record all of your own recipes. It has a spot for nutritional information and everything! It also has a chart with a list of ingredients and then suggestions for substitutes that can help lighten up your recipes.



Pretty cool, right? I have been looking for a recipe box but this is even better because it doesn’t have any removable cards that I could (and would) lose. And it was only $5! Down from $17! Can you tell I love deals? Oh wait…the deal having is not over.

So after this Josh, and I went home to watch a movie. But first! Josh, (also a lover of deals…much more than myself!) went on one of his favourite money-saving websites– Red Flag Deals.  He spotted a BBQ. A $600 BBQ. On sale for… $200!  PARDON? Free delivery! PARDON? YES PLEASE!  We ordered one stat and I can. not. wait. for it to arrive. It’s actually quite pretty, take a looksy:

So in all the excitement, I actually never got my workout in.  Oops.  Oh well, that is the first time I have missed a workout in 75 days!  (Actually, add 60 days to that. Before LiveFit, I did Insanity!)  I got yesterday’s workout done this morning though!  Did my shoulder workout at home (because this weird place I live doesn’t run the bus that goes to the gym on Sundays…thanks for that). The workout was totally fine at home though! Josh even let me borrow him to do some donkey calf raises, you LiveFitters know what I am talking about! For those who don’t know, I basically had to throw Josh on my back and do calf raises, hahah hilarious. After that I did my first 10km LSD training run for the Vancouver Half Marathon!



Soo, I ran a little faster than I should have, considering it was supposed to be a “long slow distance” run, but the weather was absolute perfect running weather, sunny, breezy and not too hot.  I felt awesome, definitely could have done it again.

Still need to finalize my training schedule plans, but when I do I will definitely share them!
