Booty Camp Fitness DVD Audition Recap!

So I after my post last night and headed up to bed at my parents’ house.  I turned the bedroom light on and who do I find…

Oh jee, sorry for interrupting your sleep, Houston.

After I convinced Houston he was a dog, I got some sleep.  Not much though, I was a wee bit too nervy!  So I woke up early, ate my egg-white oatmeal and got myself ready for the big audition!  I decided to head downtown a bit early so that I would have plenty of time to find the venue (directionally challenged anyone…?)  Good thing I did because by the time the bus arrived it was pouring rain and SUPER windy!  So I needed the time to run around Union Station looking for an umbrella.  SUCCESS!  That thing saved me in the 15 minute walk to the audition!

So let me tell you a bit more about the audition.  As I have mentioned before, I used to attend a women’s only bootcamp, Booty Camp Fitness.  Josh and I were living in Toronto at the time, but since then Josh got a job offer in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario and we moved out there.  I quit my job and came here in the late Fall and am not yet working again.  Booty Camp does have locations all across the country, but unfortunately, no job = no booty camp for Danielle.  Sad face.  Sammie Kennedy, creator and CEO of Booty Camp Fitness, announced back in January that they would be holding open auditions to graduates of Booty Camp, for the chance to be in the newest installment of the Booty Camp Fitness Ultimate Home Edition DVDs!  If that isn’t awesome enough in itself, the DVD is going to be filmed in PANAMA! Cray-zay.  SO!  I signed up for my audition that day, over 8 weeks ago.  And now here we are.

So first thing’s first.  Audition outfit:

Lululemon Wunder Unders, Lululemon Sportsbra and TNA wicking tank

When I first arrived at the venue I was completely puzzled about where to go and started to worry a wee bit.. I didn’t see anyone!  Eventually I ran into one other girl who just happened to be my audition partner!  We figured it out together and headed into the big scary audition room!  We were greeted by these SUPER SCARY ladies:

Sammie Kennedy (CEO & Creator of Booty Camp Fitness!), Dalia (SUPER-FIT Elite Drill Instructor) and Megan (VP and probably equally super-fit Elite Drill Instructor!)

Okay except they weren’t scary.  At all.  They were SO friendly and made me feel totally at ease and welcome.  They even let me take their pictures! Sammie gave us a great pep talk and told us not to stress and not to let any mistakes get to our head!  I was really glad she said that because it took me a second to get into the rhythm of some of the moves (skaters, anyone?) but because she had specifically told us not to worry, I got a grip and moved on!

Sammie & I!

They even gave us these super cute headbands just for auditioning!

Too bad we didn’t get these before the audition because I had a super fail on my part by forgetting to bring one/bobby pins.  My hair was ALL UP IN MY FACE through the entire audition.  Hope I didn’t lose too many points for that…

Hair issues aside, I am so glad I took part in the audition!  Even if I am not chosen (which is very likely, I can’t  imagine how many wonderful recruits they have been meeting across the country!), I am really proud of myself for taking the chance and going to the audition.  This year, I am trying to do more things that scare me (Lululemon bags have ingrained this in my head– “do one thing a day that scares you”) and this was definitely scary (for me!).  Other scary things I have done so far this year are anti-gravity yoga (wee! so fun!) and learning how to lift heavy and know my way around the “boy section” in the gym.  I wonder what my next “scary” feat will be!

Have you ever attended a Booty Camp Fitness bootcamp?

What “scary” things have you done lately?

Happy Friday!!
